Here is my favourite FREE security software, which one do you think is best?Avast Free Is an excellent free antivirus that is very popular. The antivirus detection rates is on par with AntiVir and Microsoft Security Essentials. Avast has the most features. Avira Anti Virus personal edition Free AntiVir is very light on resources and the detection rate of malware is outstanding, better than almost every other antivirus according to tests. Microsoft Security Essentials Has good detection rates, particularly for rootkits. Even more impressive is that Security Essentials has very few false positives, is light on resources and is good at removal of existing malware. But overall MSE does it for me I would recommend this to anyone, so why not try it yourself and feel free to leave comments about any of the above about your experiencies with either of these security software's. So there is my list of my favourite Security programs, which one do you think is the best?

I'm happy enough with AVG but i suppose it depends on where you go on the net and how much you actually care about the data on your machine. Personally i back up everything important and use this pc as a work horse so i i'm not too bothered if i have to do a reinstall. That's the beauty of windows 7 for me, i can put this computer in harms way and reinstall the os probably will less hassle than cleaning it

Microsoft Security Essentials is supposed to be the best free anti virus software, it dont seem to do much, Avira Anti Virus personal edition Free is also a great bit of kit for free.

Mmmm there has been quite a lot of reviews and extensive test on MSE and it as proved itself to better than some top names "paid" AV programs, I have been running MSE on one of my other systems and having tested a good few AV products myself, my personal best is MSE although on my main system i only use the best of the best, "Kaspersky IS 2011" However, not all AV programs work the same or react the same on every system

I am a big Kaspersky fan, have been for a number of years, I also like Nod32 and Bitdefender, but these seem to have lost there way a bit. I have a saying "why skimp on a good paid AV when you have spent alot of money on your computer" it's like buying a fast car and putting skoda brakes on it
