Every major drive manufacturer and their drive diagnostic utilities. These utilities will allow you to test & diagnose your drive. Hey, just want to suggest a very good and free tool called "Defraggler". Its not a diagnostic tool, you may say its a hard drive maintenance tool. Its much effective and efficient as compared to windows built-in defragmentation program. The official link is http://www.piriform.com/defraggler/download. I used it many times and found it really good.

My favourite diagnostic program is HD Tune; it always seems very accurate in it's diagnostics and is free

Hi Britec, I'm on your forum because I have seen your videos on YouTube and love those. Great tutorials! Now, I have a problem with an external hard drive. I think I need HDD Regenerator, because I found (with CrystalDiskInfo and Everest too) a Read Error, but that application is not free. Is there something similar in the world of free software and open source? PS: maybe I've found an alternative to HDD Regenerator: http://www.hdat2.com/
