Hi,

I have a laptop SATA hard drive that completely malfunction. It display this error message
" For Realtek RTL8139(X)/8138/810X PCI Fast Ether Controller..........
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.
Operating System not found

The hard drive is not detected in BIOS.

I attempted to troubleshoot it using your youtube tutorial but before I could even enter into the recovery console, a message is display as follow" hard disk is not found."

I do not care too much for the hard drive, but I have some important data that I need to retrieve and I do not want to spend a large amount of money to recover it.

I attempted to retrieve the data by using the "USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE cable kit."
However, my attempt was not a success because my desktop system was unable to detect the hard drive. My system was only able to detect the USB adapter.

In addition, after a couple of attempts, I notice when I supply power to the hard drive, it stop spinning and winding.

Can you please advise me on what could be the problem and ways to retrieve the data? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

 Azn sovthan,
sometimes we have to accept our data has been lost and this is why backing up is so important, data recovery is a expensive operation but it all comes down to how much you need the information. If the  hard drive is not spinning and not recognised it's not a good sign. Much better to bite the bullet and take it to a data recovery expert now because the longer you wait and keep trying the less chance you will have of a successful out come.

Sorry I can't be of more help maybe other members might come forward with other suggestions, good luck and take care.
