The best way is to use a program called 'HDDErase'. It'll use an ATA command built into the drive firmware to securely wipe it and verify. It works better than DBAN and other software because it can remove data on reallocated sectors and it's very quick. You can launch the program using UBCD. Short of incineration it's the best way to kill drive data

I don't understand why you guys use software. Does the format command won't fully erase data from a hard disk? why do you need a software for that?

 Azn libertylap,
that's the point format only frees up the location to be written to again the files and data you "Formatted " is still there until over written that's the reason. Hope your clearer now on how the system works.
