hey my lacie driver has the screen that says file directory is corrupted and unreadable

will the test disk program work ?
cause if it does
and if i have understood right
1)i would have to reformat the whole hard drive (250gb) ( which I'm a bit hesitant to do considering the ramafaction(no homo) of it not working)
2)then run the recovery program then
3)probably borrow a friends harddrive and copy it to that
4) then copy is back to my hard drive

please and thank you

Welcome to the forum

1. First off... make sure the drive is not bad? and that you are 100% sure the drive has not failed? and unreadable?

2. Do Not reformat the drive.

3. If you can access the drive then you can recovery the data without doing data recovery, unless you have lost data for some unknown reason, then you would have to do data recovery with software...on the other hand if the drive has failed and unreadable then data recovery is the only way and this will cost a fair bit of money to recover data.
