Hey Guys, I'm a wee bit fed up. My Laptops pretty old and i should probably get a new one but i can't really afford to at the moment. It was working about 2 weeks ago but now when i turn it on i get the Unmountable Disk Boot error and the Laptop just goes around in circles; it woun't load up in safe mood or anything. I made a bootable windows xp disc which works in my girlfriends laptop but mine won't run it. What can i do next? Please help.

Are you able to change the boot menu to cd and boot the computer from cd
if you are able to do so then download ERD commander in windows xp and burn the iso image with a cd
and iso burner once you have done that load windows from that cd and you will be able to access your hard drive and change anything you need to good luck if you are uable to copy the cd let me know and I will try and send you a copy of it and then you can use it

Give this a try see if it fixs your problem

1. Insert your XP installation disk into an optical drive and boot up your computer.
2. When you see a welcome screen, hit the R key on your keyboard. This will enter you into recovery mode with a DOS prompt.
3. Now type chkdsk /p and hit Enter. This will launch a utility which will check for errors on your hard drive.
4. After the process is done, type fixboot and hit Enter to repair any damaged boot files which may have become corrupted. When asked to say yes or no, type the Y key on your keyboard.
5. Type exit and press the Enter key to reboot your computer.

It will be a issue if the disk is not bootable
