Hey guys,
I've got a problem with my internet explorer I can't access https sites but I can access other sites without any problem. I have the cookies enabled and both first-party cookies and third-party cookies set to accept including "always allow session cookies" is checked.
I also have enabled:
- Use SSL 2.0
- Use SSL 3.0
- Use TLS 1.0

but still can't access. Any advise what I can do will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Din

Hi Din,

Try this first:

1.   Open up internet Explorer and click TOOLS

2.   Click on COMPATIBILITY VIEW SETTINGS

3.   At the bottom of the window that opens, put a tick in the box DISPLAY ALL WEB SITES IN COMPATIBILITY VIEW.

Not every web site is compatible with I.E.8 so try a few sites after doing this. If you are still having problems, give another buzz.

Cheers, Hope this helps.

Hi MrTicker,
I have enabled the DISPLAY ALL SITES IN COMPATIBILITY VIEW but still I can't access. I tried hotmail, facebook and some other sites but I can't access. Everything is working well I can access everything in the internet but the problem comes when I want to access my mails. I can open the first page for hotmail.com, facebook.com and other sites  but ones I put my username/email and my password it breaks and says that Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Thanks,
Din

Hi there again,

If you can remember when your problem began, do a System Restore to just before your problem started. I know you already did one but it is worth another shot if you did not go back far enough. If this does not solve it, do the following:

1.   Run a virus check with your favorite AV software.
2.   Make sure that you have all the latest Windows Updates.
3.   When you are certain that you are not infected and are fully up to date with Windows do this:

        a)   Click on Tools, Internet Options, then the Advanced tab.

        b)   Make sure "Use SSL" and "Use TLS" options (all versions) are ticked.

        c)   Now check the Security Settings in Internet Explorer.

        d)   Click on Tools, Internet Options, then the Security tab.

        e)   Select Internet,  then click Custom Level.

        f)   Use the dropdown box to set custom settings to Medium or Low,  then  click OK.

If the problem still persists, your network router or firewall software may be blocking access.

To find out if your router is causing the problem, unplug the network cable that runs from your cable modem to the router, connect it directly into the network (ethernet) jack on your computer -- temporarily bypassing the router and try again.

If the problem is now fixed, re-connect your router and check the router web page to see if it can block or unblock certain ports. It's unlikely, but it may be configured to block port 443, which is used to make secure connections.

If you run a software-based firewall such as the Windows XP firewall, ZoneAlarm, Black Ice, Norton Internet Security or similar, turn it off and see if that fixes the problem. Software firewalls can also block certain ports, so have a look at your settings to see if you need to unblock port 443.

Cheers, HTH,
