I have a toshiba equium A210 17I laptop which i have for 2 years. it came with vista preinstalled. aftre the first year i downgraded to windows XP professional. i found a driver that worked with the device realtek RTL8101e PCIe family ehternet. i had registry problem wich i always had in vista i then reformatted in reinstalled windows xp. i then had to find a new driver.

now i have installed a new hard drive in the laptop 250Gb with windows xp

and still everytime i reload windows xp i have to find a new or differnt driver that works with this device. i have tried the realtek site and is no good. i am also a comptia A+ certified professional it technician which have just long passed the exams for.

When I do a google search on the rtl8101e comes up with the ndis 6.0 (which is the vista Driver) this is no good.

so though would get a second option.

hi,

Since the weekend after trying to hook up an access point, which connects to a network hub in my workshop and up to this point the network port still worked now it doesn't. I have uninstalled the driver that i got from you and reinstalled and still doesn't work.

I am still using windows xp in a toshiba equium A210. with a 250GB hard drive. i am considering taking windows xp off and loading windows 7 on to it. As the laptop is only designed for windows vista

any ideas.

Cheers

Networking problem is going to hard to diagnose without seeing what your setup is and what your trying to do.
with the Windows XP Pro fresh install? what is it you want to know? How to do it?

if so follow this guide

hi

what i would like to know and sort out is the Ethernet driver. The problem is also that if i get one thats works on this model next time i reload windows xp i always have to find a different driver package. the link i got from you for the RTL8101e worked. i tried to setup an access point in my workshop at home and since then it has stopped working. i have managed to find a driver that works again with it but i am intending on doing a fresh install of windows xp. i know how to install windows its just the Ethernet driver i always have trouble with. as it came with vista on it the laptop worked fine for the first year but after the first year i got loads of registry problems so i downgraded to windows xp. Thus having trouble finding a driver for the ethernet controller i emailed toshiba and they came back with the product is only designed for windows vista. i do not vista as it is always causing registry problems. the laptop is a toshiba equium A210 17I.

Thanks.

I have all the proper driver for all the other hardware but not the ethernet driver.

The Model Is Realtek RTL8101E Pcie fast ethernet. i have tried downloading the windows vista driver for this under windows XP but this doesn't work.

I am pretty clued up on PCs as i have just done CompTIA A+ and other courses too, so i really needed some advice on the this ethernet problem and possible a place or website where i can download the driver. I also have tried the realtek site still no joy with them either.

 Thanks Again

Hi

You can get the driver from there main website here
http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK

Just put in make and model number and operating system and you will get the driver you need.

Its always best to go to manufactures website to get drivers, every computer or laptop (unless custom build)
has a page to get drivers from

all the best

thanks,

i have got a driver from toshiba website and installed it and it reports the worng driver but still works. it shows at a realtek 8139/810x fast ethernet. but still works.

I can't justifie that it works on this driver and it reports the wrong driver.

I am going to put windows 7 on soon anyway this should cure all my problems.

 including problems with windows registry.
