Me and my dad use Yahoo Messenger to make voice calls through our PC's to talk to one another. The problem is that when we are talking, only one can talk at a time( like a walki-talki instead of a regular phone) and there is about a 2 or 3 second delay from when i speak to when he actually hears what i'm saying and vice-versa. Here is what i think some of the problem is: I have DSL service and he has Satellite internet because of where he lives( can't get DSL or cable). So would this have something to do with Full/Half Duplex connection of his internet. Any idea on how to fix this would be great!

I'm not sure there is a fix for this, the problem is the high latency on the satellite connection, if you can imagine how long it takes for a signal to travel up to space and back! If i remember correctly, the latency is about 4 times to much for voip calls. That's how i believe it to be, hopefully i'm wrong and somebody can help you.

Thanks A T , i didn't actually stop and think about it that way! Using Yahoo messenger to make "phone calls" is a pretty nice feature but unfortunately, i guess it doesn't work well with somebody who has Satellite internet.
