Unable to access one particular website - kunal - 09-16-2015 Hi Team , There are multiple devices connected in my network (laptop, desktop, tablet, mobile) and all were able to access all the websites (which i was aware of), until one day suddenly one particular website can't be accessed from any device when it is connected to my network. The moment i walked out and connected to a network at my institution, surprisingly it works on my phone and laptop. I did nslookup no error there, got the ip, but unable to access with that ip on my web browser. Did Traceroute it was getting timed out at 5th hop and when i googled the ip where it was getting timed out was of my ISP's. Assigned static DNS, FLUSHED DNS, powercycled the network , reset the modem - router - all in vain. With the same network i am able to access website if i go through kproxy.com. I had to change my ISP finally. I am not looking for resolution now i just need to know what possible could have gone wrong , where it could have gone wrong and what else should have been done. I appreciate any insight. RE: Unable to access one particular website - Timster - 09-16-2015 Sounds like you covered most all the basses. That's not right... Just out of curiosity what was the type of site you where trying to access? If the site helps you do things that ISP's don't like you doing then we would have a better understanding of why you where getting blocked. To put your curiosity at rest, the website is to access all the machinery tools, farming tools etc. Nothing objectionable nor offensive and when asked my friends in different city to access happens to be same ISP - Works absolutely fine. RE: Unable to access one particular website - Timster - 09-16-2015 It could be a router issue. I've seen routers do some strange things when they start to let go. I had one router that would not let one certain computer connect but let all others connect just fine. Just thinking out loud EDIT: Although you did say the trace route went to 5th hop RE: Unable to access one particular website - GuiltySpark - 09-16-2015 Could be a firewall issue on that device or an issue with an IP address blocked by that sites hosting company, or even a certificate issue. Does it work with a different browser? RE: Unable to access one particular website - Compton - 09-16-2015 did you have a 3 party firewall installed on your computer? what antivirus are you running? RE: Unable to access one particular website - kunal - 09-17-2015 It can't be firewall and router, because we are talking about multiple devices here, which doesn't work when i am connected to my home network but when i go out and connect to any other random network it does work on my laptop and tablet. It is extremely bizarre and i didn't get any solution from my ISP. I even went for static IP from ISP that didn't work either and it becomes so strange when i am at other's network with same ISP it works. So that give ISP an excuse to raise their hands up and modem replacement didn't help from them. The only thing i didn't try was MAC spoofing, because i thought Address Resolution protocol (ARP) works below network layer. So there shouldn't be any association of my WAN IP and my MAC address of multiple devices. I really have no idea what happened. There might be some association with WAN IP and web hosting company. SO if that is the case how to rectify this any idea Guiltyspark? RE: Unable to access one particular website - Britec - 09-17-2015 Step 1
RE: Unable to access one particular website - Compton - 09-17-2015 I had this problem also now that I remember with DD wrt website was able access the site but could not download any firmware on the website at first I thought it was DD wrt website but I have a vpn setup after turning on my vpn connecting to a next country I was able to download firmware so it could be 2 things my isp don,t want me downloading firmware or DD wrt don,t want be downloading firmware from my country I think it's my Isp my Isp love to have control but once I turn on my vpn happy days you did say you can access the site through kproxy.com. RE: Unable to access one particular website - kunal - 09-23-2015 Sorry for late reply i was little occupied. Before i move further i wanted to emphasise it's an issue with multiple device in same network whereas all the devices can access in different network from same ISP. I was using DNS on auto assigned. When issue arises i tried global DNS and ISP DSN forced in preferred DNS succeeding by Global DNS. 3. I did reset my modem , router even ordered static ip My ISP was Airtel India and the website is accessible from same ISP but from other's network. I did reset my host file. I did verify that whether i was trying to access ssl secured website or just unsecured. Yes and i was able to access my website through Kproxy.com I didn't try Can you try connecting to that site via a live cd? ie Puppy Linux etc but i used vmware and used XP but to no avail.
