You have to have good pry tools also. Spudgers are great and I use the iSesame tool more often than I thought I would. It is a really great pry tool that can be used in different scenarios.

I never saw the point in Tronscript, it takes for ever and half of the scripts are no good on systems beyond XP.

TronScript is basically the same as Combofix, they both take a long time to run, and it can break stuff. They are just last resort tools that you can run when you determine that the system needs to be Nuke & Paved (After backing up important data of course). Backing up data and reloading a system is much faster...

Fair enough.
I agree that backing up and reinstalling is pretty much the way to go, but just like anything in IT you'll have people telling you otherwise.

I try not to wipe the computer system unless I really have to because it inconveniences the customer too much. Also if the person has loads of programs, plugins, setting etc they will all be gone.

Of course, wiping should be the last resort, but honestly it's the least painful one.

yes reinstall is sometimes the way to go but it's not the best fix for everything
you have lots tech reinstalling windowsl for pretty much nothing the computer catch the flu/cold reinstall windows
then bill the customer an arm and leg

I just did a Virus / Malware Removal service call where 2 other techs suggested a wipe and reload and the last one who was an IT guy at a corporation suggested getting a "NEW COMPUTER"...lol WOW!!
