Net Neutrality vs Open DNS - cfdevlin01 - 11-24-2017
With the current threat of eliminating Net Neutrality I am wondering if this can be bypassed via using Open DNS. Is this question valid or no relationship at all? I do use Open DNS servers and am hoping that if Net Neutrality is eliminated that Open DNS will solve this issue for me. Also, question 2: When using Open DNS on all my devices (modem, computer, tablets, and phones) which device controls this in my house and also if on a public WiFi will my phone using Open DNS override the servers being used?
Any help on these issues will be greatly appreciated.

Difficult one to answer and I certainly have no defining answer for you. I guess we will have to wait and see if it's enforced fully, the interesting thing will be to see if it affects decentralised sites or not.

Open DNS will not protect you from whatever net neutrality laws get passed. Whatever changes that are made will be enforced by your isp so using different dns servers will not matter as Brian pointed out.

i cant add anything of help here, all i know is iam worried what will happen when net neutrality is abolished and my isp, comcast can do anything to make a profit. they arent the best isp imho. i will have to address them and see what kind of response i can get on the future of my internet access. for now, dont think about it and enjoy what time you have left online

Comcast were guilty of non-net-neutrality a long time before it was even considered as they kept throttling users downloading and streaming from certain sites, still do I think.

very true bro. when i first got this pc online, they secretly over throttled my speeds for unknown reason. i complained and they restored connection. that is why i never trusted them.

It comes down to the technique the ISP uses to block the sites; if it's at the DNS level, OpenDNS could work; a VPN service could also be used as a workaround

i need a simple but efficient way to bypass comcast's blockage of internet...iam certain they will control my access. i dont trust them at all. will look into this open dns
