Are you trying to use both Wireless and Ethernet at the same time to connect to 2 different networks?

The article is for Vista and XP and suggests that you disable DHCP, you may want to check the settings on your router and check with your ISP to see if you can do this, some ISP's will not let you disable DHCP or assign static IP's. ISP's have changed a lot since the Vista and XP days...all you had was a tiny box and you could do a lot more. Now they restrict, filter, and block residential class routers.

As I suggested before, If you delete both adapters from the device manager (Don't delete the drivers if asked). when you reboot the laptop, windows will reinstall the adapters and they will be set to default....they should work fine if you do that.If this doesn't work, I can only assume that your integrated NIC is bad.

My wifi adapter is configured for a static ip address but when i assign my Ethernet port adapter an ip address i can't get it to work i even tried setting the ip and dns to automatic for the Ethernet adapter and it doesn't work.

What im trying to do is assign my Ethernet adapter and my wifi adapter on my laptop a static ip address it doesn't matter if they both have the same static ip or a different static ip address i just want both of my adapters to have a static ip so that either adapter choice is open so i dont have to choose just one.

I don't understand how the WiFi adapter can be assigned a static IP. The WiFi adapter is just a piece of hardware that makes a computer connect wirelessly to a WiFi local area network. That is it!

It's the computer or any other device connected to the local WiFi network, that gets assigned a private IP by the WiFi router, and the WiFi adapter is not one of those devices

Please also understand that this IP is not your public IP, which identifies your laptop on the Internet. If you want a static public IP, you have to consult your ISP's support

Like I said, the WiFi adapter cannot be assigned an IP. The article is about assigning IP addresses to computers and other devices on the network

What you did was you connected to a network using the WiFi adapter. That is different

Regardless of whether you connect to a network via the WiFi adapter or the NIC, the IP is assigned to the computer

These are just interfaces that let users connect their computers to a network
