computer shuts down after 10min of being on
#21
The processor is overheating.

The reasons your processor is overheating could be

1) The water loop has no fluid or the pump is not circulating the fluid (pump is bad)

2) The CPU water block is not mounted correctly

Is it a closed water loop system? Can you upload pics of the pump and loop?

If you are not feeling any slight vibrations whatsoever on that water pump while the computer is on you very well may have a bad water pump.

I've never messed with these types of cooling systems but in the zip file below I have a picture of it all. Sorry for being annoying with the metal piece I was just thinking it could be grounding it out or something but I know now that its not the problem I'm sorry about that Tim.

Can you download HWMonitor and take a screen shot and post log file and screen shot.
I want to see temps and fan speeds and power usage.

also can you see if there is and crash dump files.

I would stop using that computer, your going to fry the CPU, if you have not done so already.
  • Has it been overclocked? or was it ever overclocked?
  • Possible overclock damaged the computer.
  • Change that CPU Cooler, here is a cheap option that works well Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler you have to swap out heatsink to test CPU and make sure its not fried.
  • Motherboard Temps suggest something is not right, or senor for that temp is shagged, have you got a Non-Contact IR Infrared Digital Temperature Gun Thermometer Laser Point
  • 81C for CPU idle wow continued use at that temp will do damage if it's not done so already.
  • What I would do is swap out CPU cooler first, because this is cheap. Put all new CPU thermal compound and northbridge, MSI 970A-G46 have been reported as having poor thermal design for that model of mobo. Hence you high motherboard readings, if that has been overclocked at any stage, it could of shagged the board. But worth changing that crap motherboard heatsink for new fan, get them here MSI Motherboard Fan

You are showing 81c at 100% load. That is close to TDP. Probably goes higher as it runs. I would agree with Brian. The water cooling loop is not doing it's job for whatever reason. Consider just replacing that water loop and heatsink.

Check to be sure the pump is plugged in correctly to the power supply.

I would say that one of the motherboard sensors is faulty. 98c lol no way. The other mb sensors are 37c and 26c...

On a side note. This is why I'm not a huge fan of the closed loop system. You have no way to even visually see how much fluid there is and if the dang thing is even flowing. Conventional water loops have a res where you can see your fluids and you can visually see it circulating.

At closer inspection.... is it just me or does the back plate not look seated right. The back plate female threads should push flush with the front of the board. This might explain why the back of the plate is touching the case?

Tough to tell with the fuzzy pics (Thanks for the pics BTW OP)

Sorry brian i just noticed you wrote me ? all i know is some dude offered the customer to build him a pc and a year later its overheating lol sorry brian. I do know that the motherboard being used supports overclocking and it seemed like it was setup to be overclocked but i cant tell you honestly because im not that far along with computers lol

That whole pc was shot from the start. the builder of the pc sucked or didn't take to much effort on building it. But the customer wants it back. But thank you everyone for your input i appreciate it Smile

I think your right Tim, I am sure there is a black spacer on the early model and chrome one on the new revision, without that it wont be locked down tight and will possibly move about.
I don't think your getting enough pressure pressing down onto that CPU. Your see what I mean in this photo.
