Windows 10 Product Key Activation Issue
#1
Hi there ,
I upgraded to windows 10 , but realised that my processor at the time , being an AMD A10 6800k, want compatible with windows 10, so I changed the CPU to an AMD A10 7870k , what is frustrating is that I've had to windows techs telling me two different things. One tells me that deposited changing the cup, my windows 10 should activate within the next few days as there is a high demand on the activation server . Another tells me that , I should buy a copy of windows home to get a new product key , could someone possibly help as it looks like even Microsoft don't know ther answer, as there not consistent thanks in advance

I would give it a few days

because I see no reason to buy a new copy of windows if you have a genuine copy

Well , I didn't buy windows 10 , I was upgrading from windows 8.1 , which I did have a genuine OEM product key for , however I'm getting a message that my windows 10 key has been blocked by the activation server . Also if I may digress a little my computer is a Zoostorm pic which I purchased from Argos in the UK last year , now I was sure that if you buy a computer with windows pre-installed then you should have a Microsoft certificate of authenticity ,in a sticker on the side of the PC with your windows key printed on it , however this was not the case with my PC , and had to download a tool called product key to know what my product key was .  But despite my change of hardware the Microsoft tech suggest that I wait a few days for windows to activate itself , my only concern that if I don't activate windows 10 that it will stop working

Things you should know:

  • A Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 product key cannot activate Windows 10. Windows 10 uses its own unique product key.
  • By default, Windows 10 builds are pre-keyed, meaning, you do not have to enter a product key and should not be prompted to enter one as long as you upgraded from an activated Windows 7 or Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 license or Windows 10 Preview build.

  • If you perform a clean install on first attempt, you will have to start over from an activated Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 installation.
  • If you are prompted to enter a product key, click Do this later and give it a few days, Windows 10 will activate automatically.
  • Activation servers are being overwhelmed at the moment because of the volume of upgrades, so give it some time if you get an error message such as (0XC004E003, ,0x8007000D, 0x8007232b or 0x8007007B) Windows 10 will eventually activate as long as you upgrade using the appropriate method.
  • There is no need to know your Windows 10 product key, read the following 'Understanding Product Activation in Windows 10:

Can I perform a clean install using the Free upgrade?

No, it will require that you are running a previous qualifying version and start the upgrade from within the qualifying version. You can initiate a clean install after completing the Upgrade.

Please be aware that you cannot use the free upgrade offer to perform a clean install on first attempt. You must first upgrade from the qualifying version of Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 (whether you do it through Windows Update or using the .ISO file). Ensure the upgrade is completed successfully and then ensure that it is activated. You can then proceed to do a clean install by using recovery media or using the Reset function in Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC (Get Started).

I get KERNEL_Security_failure , other times I boot from my recovery USB DRIve, click on refresh it says please wait then I get Sad windows has encountered an error and will need to restart . If only manufacturers gave you installation media when shipping computers as I think a format hard drive and install windows....but as I don't have that option , a, a little ...worried that I've broken my PC

I have tried several product activation keys and none of them work.I've searched on the net and downloaded software but still windows 10 will not activate.I will go to Linux if any problems stop me from using it. Huh

Hi Compton , first of all pardon my lack of manners before and not thanking you for your reply to my posting and also your assistance , I downloaded the tool created an iOS bootable usb drive and have so far run a five minute diagnostic on my western digital caviar green 2TB hard drive and so far no errors detected , so now running full surface scan which will take over three hours
