Windows 10 Product Key Activation Issue
#31
the USB/ CD recovery could be corrupted

but odds of that happening is very small

let just try clean installing windows 10

do you have any important data on hard drive

#32
I don't have windows 10 on any media USB or dvd.... My hard rive appears to be wiped , I wish there was a way to format the hard drive without using windows recovery I looked on the hbcd is you kindly gave me but those tools couldn't find my hard drive .....things were a lot easier with the fdisk command in windows 98 lol

Compton with respect Brian (Britec) did say that :
Can I perform a clean install using the Free upgrade?

No, it will require that you are running a previous qualifying version and start the upgrade from within the qualifying version. You can initiate a clean install after completing the Upgrade. ....so I still need windows 8.1 to install windows ten and then to a clean install ....I do appreciate your help ( god I hope that doesn't sound condescending )

#33
don.t you have a flash drive and a next computer so you can download windows 10

you can format the hard drive using linux

but if you can create a windows 10 installation usb you can format the hard drive using that

#34
I do have a laptop which I can install windows 10 on or use ruckus to create a bootable windows 10 drive but will have to back up the hbcd on that computer as I'm running out of usb drives and don't have any blank cd or dvd's either , also I don't see how it would work condsidering my hard rive I supposed to be blocked ....... Sorry just a thought

#35
so the answer is that you don't have a next computer

Heydon that's right, you cannot perform a clean install without completing a free upgrade and activating that new windows 10 install first. If you try a fresh install without a free upgrade first, you won't be able to activate windows 10, because you won't a a valid Windows 10 licence key.

that's funny Microsoft said you can do a clean once you took advantage of the free upgrade offer.? britec09

select “Install Now” once the Windows installer starts. When you reach a screen asking for your Windows 10 product key, click the Skip button. You won’t actually have a Windows 10 product

How to Clean Install Windows 10

That's right Compton, you have to complete free upgrade and activate windows 10 before you can do a fresh install.

Thanks Compton , still don't know what to do as I think my windows 8.1 is corrupt somehow even though it appears part of it has been deleted of the computers hard drive , I try and reset my PC got to 45% and then flashed up the blue screen .....so I can come up with zero options .....

Britec, if I may ask do,you have any possible solutions to my problem? Be grateful if u could

you have 3 options

1 ask your computer manufacturer to send a new recovery usb disk or CD

2 buy a windows 10 disk

3 buy a windows 8. 1 disk
