Replacing Hard drive ... Needs Help ...
#1
Hello there ,

I want to replace my Dell 755 80GB Hard Drive to 500GB HARD DRIVE ...

I know how to remove the Hard Drive & Install it but my Question is :

* IS IT EASY TO INSTALL MY WINDOWS 7 (original) TO WORK NORMALLY MY PC ?
* IS IT THE SAME LIKE A FACTORY RESET ?

Sorry guys , I am not a computer genius like you ...

I am just an Automotive Engineer ! Sad

Your kind reply will be highly appreciated !

Bringing this problem to a Computer Repair Shop is very expensive ... Sad

The first step would be to Clone your old hard drive to the new one, this would save you a lot of time and work
but for this you would need to connect your drive externally or use a "cloning device"
https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1ASUC_enUS584US584&ion=1&espv=2&es_th=1&ie=UTF-8#q=hard+drive+cloning+device&safe=off&tbm=shop

Free cloning software such as https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx
would do the trick.

If you are going to do a "clean" install of Windows 7 you will need the product key which is on the sticker license on your computer
and after the install you would need to download all the necessary drivers from the Dell web site.
* A "clean install" is like a "Factory Reset" but without all the Factory Software and drivers that originally came with the PC.

Is the cloning device can clone all hard drive model ?
I mean if I do not know the hard specs & i bought cloning device , will it fit to clone my new hard drive?

What I have is the Original W7 ... i already backed up my files ... do you think by replacing the drive it will work if i just insert my W7 & configure it ?

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows7

what version of windows 7 are you running windows 7 professional 64bit

yes you can clone hard drive but I think it's best to reinstall windows 7

then you should backup and clone the hard drive

Yes, The cloningn device will clone all hard drives.
Just make sure it supports physical sizes, 2.5 and 3.5

If the cloning is successful then yes, just plugging it in will work,

zINc ,

In buying Cloning device Online , What model or brand will i tell ? Is it by size or by PC model ?

Is it advisable to buy Cloning device since I will use it only once ?

My plan is to buy the right 500GB Hard drive , install it , then INSERT my W7 with original Product Key & CONFIGURE ... IS THIS WILL WORK?

So I need only my orig W7 & Download Windows 7 Disc Images (ISO Files)

It will work after replacing & installing Hard Drive ?

you need a valid product key to download the windows 7 iso

do you have a valid product key?

after downloading the iso you will need to write the iso to a flash drive

If you old hard drive is healthy (no bad sectors) then this is the best/easiest/quickest way with no extra work after
the cloning.

You can get a good cheap one for around $50 and then use later for maybe inserting an external drive for backup..etc
Look for a "docking stations" like one of these"

I agree that cloning the drive will be the first option I would choose. Simply connect your 500gig hard drive to your computer and clone your 250gig hard drive over to the 500gig then install your 500gig hard drive where your 250 gig hard drive is now and your on your way. No product key needed.
