[Solved] the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error
#9
no, i only took the hard drive for them to check if it was bad not the whole desktop, shure enough it was. if i would have let them fix it and everything it would've cost me $300 plus for all the work. them checking the hard drive only was $40. thats why i wanted to do everything myself haha. but good news i got everything working myself now, the only thing was when i re installed windows it gave me error message saying windows couldnt be installed and it kept restarting itself with the same error message. at this point i just wanted to throw my desktop at the wall but i eventually looked up how to bypass that by hitting shift+f10. took a bit but i finally got my desktop back up and running with the new hardrive working just fine. now the problem im having now is my windows does not want to update. "WINDOWS UPDATE CANNOT CURRENTLY CHECK FOR UPDATES, BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS NOT RUNNING. YOU MAY NEED TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER". im ready to rip my hair out now. one thing after another. i tried this but it didnt work https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_update/windows-update-cannot-currently-check-for-updates/b250e431-cdfc-46ac-a044-eaaee17491cf .

oh ya i also tried this but still didnt work https://www.repairwin.com/fix-windows-update-cannot-currently-check-for-updates-because-the-service-is-not-running-error-windows-7/
