Greetings from a new formum member
#1
Greetings from Sunny California,

I'm an old Apple MacBook Pro user from 2007 when I switch over from my Toshiba Windows XP notebook. The primary reason for the switch was Windows couldn't handle my media processing and development needs. Well I had a 2007 and 2011 17" MacBook Pro notebooks, the 2007 had hardware problems and had a catastrophic failure and the 2011 was stolen, all within four weeks.  I couldn't afford another MacBook Pro and I didn't want a 15" screen, so I bought a MSI 17" gaming notebook.  With some unexpected foresight I created a media "lab" that used applications for both the Mac and Windows.  I had the Mac versions, now I'm slowly getting the Windows version.  Okay, long story shorten somewhat, I'm also looking at some Linux media development applications that could be used in lieu of the commercial media applications.  As such, I am looking at how I can run Linux along side Window 8.1 and possibly Windows 10. I want to access to my Windows and Linux data files while I'm running either a Windows app or Linux app. I found this forum looking for a way to install Linux Ubuntu or Mint on my notebook without screwing up Windows.  I'm glad I did because I expect to learn a lot from the forum members and hopefully I can contribute somewhat to the forum.
