Yeah that should got you where you need to go.

From what you have said it sounds like the computer is blue screening. With what Britec posted that will disable the restart if the computer bluescreens. (that's a good thing). Then once that happens you should be able to do the rest of my other post.

Good Luck

1. Go Search type: power

4. Disable by unchecking the checkbox and then click on "Save Changes"

Good day Britec,

Thanks again for your replay, however my computer is still not shutting down.

Greatly appreciate your inputs and suggestions.

Try disconnecting everything from the computer apart from the video, keyboard and mouse. Make sure EVERYTHING else is disconnected and see what happens when you shutdown.

Give the following fix a go to try and resolve your shutdown issue (create a restore point before you try and fix any issue)

1. Open start menu and type regedit and press Enter.
2. Registry Editor should now be open.
3. Please  make a backup of your Registry before you continue. Click File and then Export and name backup file.
4. Navigate to following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager
5. On the right side , look for BootExecute entry. Double-Click on it.
6. Delete Value Data part and type the following into it:
autocheck autochk *
and press OK.
7. Now, RESTART (Important: Don't press SHUTDOWN your computer.)
8. Once back at desktop, press Shutdown button and try and shutdown the computer.
If all goes well, you should shut down as Windows should shutdown.

Good day Britec,

Good day jimitservices,
Currently the only thing that is currently connected to my computer tower at the moment are the following: monitor, keyboard and mouse.

This going to be a process of elimination, this error is related to a lot of different things .

You have two choices.

1. Backup and rebuild the OS

2. Work through every possible fix you find. (Which could take some time)

Could be Wake on LAN

Right click "My Computer
Select "Properties
Go to "Hardware Device
Click "Device Manager
Select "Network Adapters
Select "Marvell Yukon .....PCI-Fast Ethernet Controller--> right click ---properties--->power management-->deselect "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"--->Go to "Advanced" tab--->put value off for "Wake from shut down" --->value none for "Wake up capabilities
press OK

(You may have different network card)

If this doesn't work then check your BIOS

Restart ---> press F2---> go to "Main" tab --->Network boot [Disable] --- Save or (look for it in your BIOS)

Here is a full guide Wake on LAN

Here is a another guide Powering On and Configuring BIOS Settings

Just look for wake up the computer option and disable it (eample: USB HIDs) or restore BIOS to default settings

Not sure what else you can do without looking at the machine, just hunt around machine and BIOS, its got to be a setting.

Hope this helps.
