AMD FX8320E-only seeing 4 cores
#1
Hi,

I've just got my 8 core processor but cpz and the task manager are only seeing 4 cores

I know nothing about core parking.

Just don't understand why I'm only seeing 4 cores and not 8

Do I need to unlock it or??

I just checked the BIOS version and it's fine, I'm currently on 2601 which is acceptable and the latest.

I have google how to unpark the cores, I don't now enough about it so don't want to wreck my system!

The thing is it's a brand new unlocked CPU. there shouldn't be a problem already!
Thanks for your help, will look in to that and report back.

I went to msconfig

boot

advanced options

unchecked the cores
unchecked the ram

restarted the pc

checked the cores -- then it showed all 8
checked the ram -- showed all 16 GB

restarted the pc

went to cpuz, showed all 8 cores and all 8 threads
went to resource monitor showed all 8 cores

I think the issue was my fault because I'd already specified 4 cores with my FX 4300 4 core.

Thanks for your help.

This one is solved I reckon.

Oh so you allocated 4 cores in MSCONFIG, I leave might and windows will detect it.
