Does Media Creation Tool Download Latest Version of Windows 10
#1
Hi Guys,

Windows 10 has been updated on my pc to the latest version ok. Do I have to do anything with my bootable usb media?? I take it this is now out of date, if I use it again i.e. to reload my pc will Windows 10 not now have to load the latest upgrade v1511 again???? Or!! does the latest Media Creation Tool download incorporate the latest v1511 build.

Many thanks.

Any new version you download should be the latest version and yes you will need to keep all your version updated if you want them to be the same as the latest version when you install them.

Example:

if you created say Windows XP USB with no service packs, it would be a Windows XP USB installer, if you then download Windows XP with Service Pack 3, you would then have a Windows XP USB Service Pack 3 installer.

This means when you install Windows XP again, you won't have to install all the service packs and updates, this can save loads of time. That is why I slip stream all my versions of windows with the latest updates and service packs.

This can be done on all version of windows. this is great for computer techs, but if your a home user, you might want to create a image of that drive and keep it updated. Acronis does a great job at doing this for you in the background.

I used Windows XP as example because they have the most service packs and updates.

So if you want to have the latest version of Windows 10, you will need to keep that updated by recreating it with the latest version. I would of thought that Microsoft Media Creation Tool download the latest version.

Hope this answers your question.
