Hirens Boot CD Problem
#11
Bill I can't understand why you would only have icons and no programs.
  • what's the source where your downloading it from?
  • What's the size of the ISO?
  • How are you burning it to CD or How did you copy to USB?
Very strange.

Hi Brian,

what's the source where your downloading it from?

I got it from here... https://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/

What's the size of the ISO? 622 MB

How are you burning it to CD or How did you copy to USB? I burn it to a disk using CD Burner XP ...Burn ISO Image and speed is 4x (706kb/s). I have also burnt Hirens to a disk using the Burn CDCC.exe as well with the same result.

I also put Hirens on a 4GB Flash drive with Rufus...hit F12 went to Lexar Jump Drive 1100 from Boot Order hit Enter...Hirens Booted went to Mini XP and still got the same problem...I don't know what to do next.

Nothing wrong with what your doing Bill, its got to be something to do with your computer BOIS setting or it don't like that wireless mouse
Bill check device manager and make sure there are no yellow ! or ? check USB sounds like a driver issue. Have you installed chipset drivers for motherboard and drivers for the mouse?

I think this supports your mouse IntelliPoint software

Hi Brian,

In Device Management no yellow question marks...went to Mice and Other Pointing Devices...Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Mouse (Mouse and Keyboard Center)...clicked on...Update Driver Software...and got...Best Driver Installed.

I then clicked on...Universal Serial Bus Controllers and all Drivers are upto date. I did install both Motherboard Drivers and Graphic card Drivers from the Disks supplied. Yesterday I ran Slim Drivers and all Drivers are upto date.

I have tried both USB 2 and USB 3 ports with both mice but still get the same problem...I think I'll give Hirens the flick as I only wanted it for...Repair MBR win 7...I can use Windows 7 Repair Disk...Reset any Password...I can use Trinity (once I learn to use it) Don't know about...Recover Win Product Key...maybe Magic Jelly bean.

Windows will install driver for Mouse, its best to get driver from manufacturers website, this may be worth a try. other that mate, its hard to see what's going on without looking at the machine. Covered all we can without a look at the computer.

Never seen anything like this with Hiren's in all my years.

No worries Brian...these things happen and I will try Driver from Microsoft...but doesn't explain why only four icons...could be worse...as they say such is life.

P.S. Just downloaded Mouse Driver from Microsoft...clicked Run and it said...Driver already installed...so we know it's not a Driver issue. You have a video on Reset a password with Trinity...so I'll use that...the funny thing is I don't have a Password on my Desk Top PC...Thanks anyway Brian.

I Booted into Hirens Mini XP (The same Disk) on my old computer running windows 7 and it worked fine...all tools and Mouse works too.

So it seems to be a setting in the BIOS that's not right...this BIOS is much more complicated than the old computer for me...can anyone tell me what settings should be.  Mother Board is Gigabyte B85M-D3H...manual doesn't tell me very much.  Thanks Guys.

i am having the same prob.
ihad to go into the bios to change the sata settings from "AHCI" to "IDE" AFTER THAT i could have all the icons of hirens minixp but i can't access my harddrive i have only the icone displayed in "my computer" but no letter for the hdd.

I have a similiar, but not exact problem with Hiren's. My wireless mouse and keyboard work fine, but I cannot get the HBCD Menu to come up on MY computer. This only happens on my computer. It is a Gateway desktop, 8 gig memory, 600 gig hard drive, 4 core Intel processor, Vista that I purchased in February 2009. On my old Dell XP laptop plus on various customer's computers it works fine, just not on mine. I can apparently use all the other features; mini xp, get to computer so can access utilities on my flash drive. I just happen to really like the HBCD Menu features, which I use all the time working on customer's computers.
