Webcam Freezes After Windows 10 Update

Well it looks like the Windows 10 Anniversary update has broken literally thousands of webcams after users install the update. Microsoft actually knew about the issue when they released the update but literally assumed that they "did not anticipate the issue to affect so many users"

Basically Microsoft decided to stop supporting webcams that use M.264 and MJPEG codecs. When the user tries to use their webcam after installing the Anniversary update the camera freezes after a short time. Microsoft is trying to release a fix but claim they will not support M.264 or MJPEG codecs. As of now they advise rolling the update back to the last version and a fix is not going to be released in the near future.

M.264 and MJPEG are 2 major codecs that are implemented in so many ways including webcams. This not only affects home users but enterprise users who depend on webcams for business meetings. This will not go down well with many Windows 10 users.

Thanks for the news update Timster, Microsoft really needs to step up their game and be honest with public, otherwise they are going to lose their users. ( This is my opinion, don't take it personally)
