Problem with a Java program running in Windows10
#1
Help please!
I use a program called JWILDFIRE written in Java and running on my 64bit Win10 machine.

Around the same time as the anniversary update for Win10 came out, I and about 10-20 (maybe more?) Other users of this program started getting a problem with the window suddenly following the mouse around for no apparent reason and at random times or at least no logical reason.

This does not happen in Any other program on my pc or anyone else that has reported it. So, it must be a Java conflict, but all people reporting this are running different versions of windows, either 10 or 7 and maybe 8 too.
At least four of us have compared systems and it seems that we have AMD graphics cards.
Not sure if this is all users with the problem or just the ones who have compared their systems.

The dev and creator of the program (Andreas Maschke) has not been able to reproduce this problem and says he has no idea why it might happen.

I am so frustrated with this and so are the others, if you maybe could point me in the right direction or actually have heard of a similar problem and cause, I would be extremely grateful for any help!

We use this program daily and it is very difficult to keep restarting it and try to keep focused on the project.

Thanks for Any Help!

Hi Craig, welcome to the forums!
Firstly have look at this link on Java troubleshooting, see if this helps you in any way https://java.com/en/download/help/troubleshoot_java.xml

Secondly, look at these two videos on how to completely remove any programs created by britec to remove JWILDFIRE completely and then reinstall it to see if it fixes your problem. Here are the video links:

Here is the second link:  Completely Uninstall iTunes, QuickTime, and Other Software From Windows by Britec
These two videos work for any program
Let me know if this does work
Thanks

Thanks for your quick reply REC560!

The JWildfire program is not installed, it runs from a folder.
Thanks for the links, I will check now.

I would like to know the exact behavior and want to know what happens precisely. I didn't quite understand the part where you said the following..

this program started getting a problem with the window suddenly following the mouse around for no apparent reason and at random times or at least no logical reason

Could you please record a video of the behavior and upload it here for us to examine?

Thanks but it would've been more helpful if the video quality was better. Nevertheless, if I understand properly, the issue starts at around 2:45 in the video. Is that correct?

Yes, that is correct, but it happens at different intervals and in different areas of the window. Not always by clicking the same place or even area.
Also, once it happens it takes a closing of the window/program to clear it.
This Only happens in this program and it is the same for all users reporting the issue.

Please let me know if you need anything else.
Cheers!

Sounds like there may be a problem with the program, but we can't be sure until we find some more information, have you looked at the links I proved and watched the videos?

I saw the following recommendations from their site. I would like you to check and tell us if your setup is as recommended by the author

If you have a 64Bit operating system (as Windows7 64Bit) you should always use the 64Bit Java runtime.

The newest Java (currently Java 8) is always recommended, it usually lets the software execute faster

Yes, I have both 32bit and 64bit java installed and select the 64bit for the program, and am using Java 8 101
