Overclocking I7 Asus G750JX
#1
If the CPU has a turbo boost (my Intel i7 4700HQ does) then go for it because I overclock on my laptop all the time. But the fans can at least deal with this.

Curious as to what make and model laptop you are overclocking?

This is just my opinion I think its a great laptop, but I would standby my golden rule, never overclock a laptop.
They are not designed for overclocking, Its hard enough keeping them cool running at full tilt when playing games.

Here is a Disassembly of the laptop and how to add copper heat sinks. (overheating issues maybe?)

Asus G750JX Disassembly
Here is a image of the heat sink without copper, got to love how this guy works on the static carpet with $2000 laptop Dodgy

Here is a image with heat sinks added, not sure on what results are after adding this copper shims, so so common now days with laptop, they are trying to keep price down on laptops and cutting out of parts that keep the laptop GPU and CPU cool, when will they learn, this is classed as a gaming grade laptop. (oh look we now have plastic to rest the motherboard on and not carpet  Blush )

Wow... you know when you see posts with copper cooling mods on laptop motherboards there is a issue with cooling.

Although the cooler you can keep them the better I still would not overclock a laptop. Laptops have short lives as it is.
