Guiltyspark: So, all this is saying (WARNING!  F parameter not specified.Running CHKDSK in read-only mode.) is that (chkdsk) is being run and not (chkdsk /f)? so Instead repairing sectors like (chkdsk /f) would. Running (chkdsk) is not repairing it's just reporting any errors. If I really wanted to get things done I would run (chkdsk /r) Is this correct Guiltyspark

To break it down;

Yes it's just read only, a bit like scanning a system for errors and simply reporting there is or isn't errors.

Yes you can do.

The most commonly used switches would be /f and /r.

/f will fix a corrupted file.

/r will recover readable data.

Both will effectively do the job and you can even use both switches together although this would seem to be pointless really.

There are more switches available but in all likelihood you wouldn't need to use them.
