Thanks Compton for your suggestion. Unfortunately that hasn't solved the problem. It seems they when my computer is connected to the extender and I go on the Internet, the whole broadband stops, meaning, there is no internet for anyone. I know this because my router turns from blue to red.

lets just make sure its not the router or BT problem
