It seems they when my computer is connected to the extender and I go on the Internet, the whole broadband stops, meaning, there is no internet for anyone. I know this because my router turns from blue to red.

I see it now when something don't work right Britec just throw it in the cupboard and buy new stuff
 Brian you might need to give that cupboard a good holidays cleaning Britec the big time money spender lets just make sure its not the router or BT problem

That's the thing with these power line networking solutions. What works great in one home may not work as well in another.
