W10 Anniversary 20GB won't use USB
#1
I have used the Assistant and have allowed it to assist in freeing up space. As you know it requires 20GB and I only have 13GB. I have seen elsewhere that a choice to use a USB drive with enough free space will allow the update to proceed BUT I cannot access this option. I have tried installing a USB stick and external HDD BUT to no avail. Yes, in File Explorer the drive(s) are seen. How can I proceed?
Regards.

Are you saying you only have 13GB of space on your C: drive or USB drive?

I think he is talking about HDD because he is talking about assistant (meaning Cortana) but I don't how 20gb is enough for an operating system, it is not the recommend amount anyway

when installing windows 10 or even upgrading you need at least16gb of free space

To be clear: Surface 3 - 64bit x64 based processor - 2GB RAM - 64GB SSD with 13GB FREE SPACE

I have both a USB Stick and Ext HDD that have more than 20GB free space.

Yes,Microsoft states that the update requires 20GB. The point I am making is that a YouTube video showed the update assistant with a drop down for selecting a USB device. I am referring NOT to Cortana but to the Anniversary Update Assistant that is also referenced in Brian's demo.

I hope this is now clear and look forward to your guidance for which I thank you.
