Macrium vs. Win 10 system image
#1
Hello all. I'm kind of new to making system images. Years ago, I made one using Free Macrium Reflect on an old XP computer I used to have, and when I later tried to restore it, the Macrium didn't work.

I now have a new Win 10 computer, and am wondering if anyone has had the chance to compare the reliability of Free Macrium vs. the Windows 10 system image utility. If not, what software do most people recommend? Thanks.

Hi Jim, Welcome to the forum

I would suggest you always verify the backup, that way you know its a good and successful backup image, many people skip this part, but its important because when you come to use that image, you know its good.

Free Macrium Reflect is still very good, make sure you keep your image updated.

Hi Jim Hester, Macrium reflect is a much better system image for Windows. Macrium reflect can make a clone so you can restore your image on a new hard drive and if you create a normal system image, you can even browse that image and copy files from it. It is a win win! Very Secure.
Like Brian said, always verify it to make sure the image isn't corrupt, this is important because if it is corrupt, it could make your computer unbootable and you would have to reinstall windows.

Hope this helps

Thanks Brian. And thanks for changing my username. I was just trying to find out how to do that.

Thanks, guys. The reminder about partitions is welcome. I'm getting ready to click on "Donate" Smile
