I just got a dell dimension 5150 and i just want to be sure all is on the up and up since i added a couple things to the desktop like a tv tuner and a second hard drive and im also curious on how i should use the page file because i have both hard drives page file as min 1500 and max 4092. Also the power supply is 305 will i be okay with the setup i have?

To add to what f23948 said....
- Upgrade OS to Windows 7 or 10
- Add 2 more Gigs of RAM "Your model will support up to 4GB"
- Only have a Page File on one drive.

I didn't think a dell dimension 5150 could support windows 10? I was wantint to put 8.1 on there since i have a disk and an 8.1 product key but again i didn't think my dell 5150 would support those. As for windows 7 thats what i wanted to put on there but i dont have a free product key there all being used

looking specs it would be best to put Linux the only problem you might have is with the tv tuner

Eek i dont care to much for Linux. Is there any other windows i could put on there? Or is vista the highest i can go? Which vista or linux are my only options?

I have been running Windows 10 Pro 64bit on an AMD Athlon 2 core with 4Gigs of RAM since the Insider Preview version without a problem.

You'll get away with 8.1 or 10 on that machine, I have an old XP laptop with 1GB RAM running Win 10 fairly comfortably (although it does find it a strain when multiple apps and UIs are open.

Most Linux distros would run easily on that system, as for the TV tuner...it may work OOB or you may have to do a little research to see if will work on certain distros without the need for extra drivers.
