That's the thing, I have a staic ip address on my wifi adapter and when I disconnect the wifi adapter or disable it and plug in the Ethernet cable it tells me theres an unidentified network and a yellow flag on my internet connection icon so i thought by changing from static to automatic for both ip address and dns for the Ethernet port would fix the problem but the same issue persists so i used my network trouble shooter it tells me that the Ethernet port doesn't have a valid ip address so i logged into the website for my modem to see which ip addresses are being used and the ip address i selected isn't even selected for other devices on my network
