I understand that it is more secure because the root level access to its critical system files, is prohibited, and this alone makes the whole architecture way more stable

Nonetheless, I would like to know what the other reasons are

Depends who you talk to, some may say speed, some may say it's ability to conform to your preference as opposed to the other way round (after all you can always design a distro from the kernel up to have what you want, other OS's don't allow this), some may say that it never breaks down....there would / are more but you would have to speak to different Linux users to understand why They love it.

But I feel this thread is becoming a Win vs Linux thing and I don't want that.

What kind of video editing software can you use on linux without the need for a virtual box?

f23948, what is it about windows that you are having issues with? Ive noticed you seem to go back and fourth between windows and linux.

Just sharing my opinion i think linux is pretty sweet depending on what linux distro you go with but windows seems to be the way to go because if you think about it windows gives you more freedom and is less technical but the worry of virus's is defiantly a con of windows.

As for linux theres no need to worry about virus's,if your into coding linux seems to be the way to go when it comes to some programs, and after a linux install and updates your ready to go and pretty much without any worrys.
