using linux on laptop

Hey guys I am thinking of Installing Linux on my laptop and I'm wondering does it need Antivirus software like windows does? Look forward to hearing from you thanks.

Contrary to popular belief, No you don't need AV for Linux. That's the short answer.

The long answer would be, you only need AV if you run a file server whereby you are hosting files for download for Windows users.
Otherwise to use an AV on Linux is just a waste of resources.
