Hardware tools and software
#25
Yeah, reinstalling your OS is not best way to fix every problem, though it does help in some situations.

Now if every customer/client has a issue and you immediately think "Lets do a fresh install of Windows", it is not professional and won't help in the long run.

because
  • Reinstalls of Windows takes time and is not useful, espically, if the customer needs do to some important work and you are still in process of wiping and restoring everything, plus depending on how much data they have and the speed of the system, this could take a couple days to finish, which again, inconviences them.
  • If you keep reinstalling windows for every little thing, you will eventually put wear and tear on the hardware (in this case your SSD/HDD) and it cause it to fail quicker, which is bad for the long run.
  • You will never learn anything! So lets say that for, e.g, you had a problem with a certain feature inside windows and you decided to reinstall windows to rectify it. Then after that, problem solved. But then 5 more PC's had the same issue. Then once again, you wipe and so on... But in the end you discover, all you had to do, was change a registry key. You wasted 5 or more hours reinstalling windows on 5 different systems when it was simply a quick registry change.
The moral of the story and the purpose of the points I made, is that you should not just wipe and reinstall to fix the problem. Do some proper research and find a soultion. Now I know you can go so far when diagonising issues.

But, this will help you become more professional and will save you loads of time when dealing with different systems that have the same issue. You will also have aquired new knowledge which can use to adept to new situations.

Solving technical problems is a learning process. In the end, it will be worth it!
