I don't think what you're asking is possible although I haven't used iTunes in years ever since my nano stopped synching.

To be clear you have;

HDD 1 = your OS and where iTunes is installed.

eHDD 2 = where you'd like to have your music stored.

You want to use eHDD 2 to play songs via iTunes on HDD 1 without having to copy files over into iTunes.

I would say no not possible as iTunes converts the files to .acd (I think that's the right format).

However, if the files are pre - converted you may Huh  be able to select play with / open with. But I'm not 100% on that.

I think the only way to do it is change the location of your music folder to an external drive and have all your music in there.
You will need to have that drive plugged in to play your tunes.

I have 2 hard drives which are both installed to the motherboard of my pc.

On port 0 of my motherboard is the hd which windows is installed on. On port 1 of my motherboard is where my 2nd hd is plugged in.

There is a setting in itunes where i can change the location of the folder but it seems like when i change my folder to the seperate hd where id like my music to be, itunes seems to reset it back to default.

Im trying to change the location of my music folder to the 2nd hd due to lack of storage space on my os hd
