The computer isn't mine, It is a friends laptop. He gave it to me to try to fix. He said he got a new SSD from a friend who installed windows to it but also the HDD drive. Windows was installed to the SSD but the documents, pictures folders etc were all re-routed to the d drive (HDD drive) from the c drive (SSD). I took out the HDD drive for now until I find out why it is doing what it is doing. He said it was working great for a while then it just started not working.

I have noticed that if I remove the SSD and blow in it then stick it back in it loads then stops working again after a shutdown or restart. So it seems like I have to keep taking the SSD out then put it back in again to get it to work. Although it's an SSD it boots up even slower than an HDD drive would. I just don't understand why it is doing what it is doing. I reset the bios back to default and everything...

Maybe it is a hardware problem with the connector on the motherboard.

And i did do a check on the health of the SSD drive and it came back good.

ok I think its clean its the SSD or bios

This is the next step I would take with this take an image of SSD

then if you have extra hard drive put it in laptop install windows onto it

then check to see how fastest windows will boot up this would eliminate any other hardware problems

Yeah I will try that, I did try a spare Kingston SSD this morning but that did the same. I'm currently trying to upgrade the bios from version 5.30 to 5.40 that I got from the website

Yeah, i did flash the bios, I first reset the settings but that didn't work so I took out the battery and held the power button down for 10 seconds to drain it then put the battery back in. I'm sure I did it properly because once I booted it back up after that it asked to reset the time and date but the bios flash didn't work either.

I'd say install a Linux distro like Peppermint on the hard drive, remove the SSD and install the hard drive in its place, and make the laptop boot from it

Just make sure that the laptop is only connected to the bootable Linux hard drive when you  boot it up, to avoid any possible interference

If it boots normally, we could safely rule out any hardware issues but if the issue persists, probably it's due to a faulty hardware
