Right And Wrong Ways To Remove Dust from Laptop?

I have open this thread because there was some debate on ways of removing dust from a laptop and these videos were posted on that thread. First of all these are completely the wrong way to go about removing dust and dust bunny's from a laptop

Take a look at the image below, how is any of the methods above going to clean that problem? these are called dust bunny's and by disassembling the laptop you can then clean the fan and remove dust and while your there add thermal compound to CPU and GPU. This is what I can thermal maintenance and it needs to be done to keep the laptop running cool.

There are no short cuts in computer/laptop repair. Do the job correctly or leave it to the professional PC techs who know how. I see far to many so called pc repair shop that don't what the hell they are doing and are only in it for the quick buck. The PC Repair industry can be very rewarding when done right and cutting corners is not the way to go. Learning how to become a proper computer repair tech takes time and there is more to a pc repair tech then formatting windows and building computers.

Well, those methods aren't even meant for a build-up like that, and besides, if the issue persists, there is always the option to take the parts apart and clean

What I think is that people get mislead when they watch youtube videos

Now I think what can happen we think that we can fix every by watching youtube

when we really can.t

both videos are wrong but that video on cleaning your laptop fan using drinking straw I think was made for comedy reason

I am sorry don.t mean to sound rude but it is total bs

Not sure  what makes you say that the video is meant for fun;  in the other video, it can be seen that  the dust is pushed out

the problem with that second is you have no way to see were the dust is going

it's only creating more problem I would love to see people disassemble the laptop after doing that

I will bet it's not good

at the end of the day do it correctly disassembling the laptop you have less problems

The only problem with disassembling a laptop is a newbie doing it other than that id say your method is how a lot of others do it which makes since and you will hit every spec of dust inside the computer which bring up my hp compaq 6910p my god i see why timster says he likes newer laptops or at least i beleive it was timster but anyways the old laptops are a pain in the butt to disassemble

If your working on Laptops, I can almost guarantee that 95% of the Laptops you get in that run warm look exactly like the one Brian posted above. Always keep Thermal Compound and Thermal Pads on hand.

There are lots of repairs to Laptops that require disassembly and you have to be comfortable in doing that.

My 2 cents.... When cleaning out the dust in the laptops ventilation system the only real way to know for sure that you have done a thorough job in removing all of the dust is to take the laptop apart and get a visual. I have tried to take short cuts and have actually blown dust back into the fan area causing the fan to actually jam. Best practice is to get a visual on it. That way there is no guess work and you know for 100% the job was done properly.
