Fn key problem Win 10
#1
I have a new Windows 10 machine. Right out of the box all the Fn keys worked fine. I worked through the 10 setting changes video, installed a couple of programs, and now the screen brightness Fn keys don't work. I reinstalled the Fn key driver from a disc that came with the machine, but nothing changed. It's just the screen brightness keys affected. I'm wondering if I went OTT with the video and disabled something which caused this problem.

Is there a way to restore the system settings to default?

Thanks for the suggestion. The only restore point is for earlier today when I uninstalled a program. The problem was there prior to installing that program. I don't have much data on this laptop yet, it's only 10 days old. I was considering a reset.

It's a Novatech nSpire N1752. I followed your 10 changes to Windows 10 video. Then installed, Firefox, Malwarebytes, Avast Premier, Unchecky, Classic Start. Somewhere along the line the Fn screen brightness F8/F9 keys don't work. All other Fn functions work correctly. The brightness Fn keys worked fine when I first turned the laptop on, and before making any changes.

A drivers disc came with the machine and I was advised to reinstall the Fn function driver. Did so but no difference.

Perform SFC scan

Click 'Start' > Type cmd in the search field > Right-click the command prompt at the top of the list and select 'Run as Administrator'
Inside the command prompt, type sfc /scannow > Press 'Enter'
4. Reboot and test.
