Home Network not accessible
#1
Hi all this is my first posting so bear with me if i dont give all the relevant info
I have two desktops that have always seen each other but since the last update to Windows 10 Ver 1803 i have lost the home group which i now know Microsoft have droped in the 1803 version, my second PC the I5 can see my 1st PC the I3 and asked for my credentials and i can now access all my shared folders on the I3 PC, but PC1 the I3 does not see the I5 on the network when i click the network icon so unable to get to shared folders on that PC. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi many thanks for the link, i have followed it right through and the I5 PC can access my files on the I3 but still no joy the other way the I5 PC does not show up on the network on the I3 PC. Both have Mcafee installed and as far as i can tell all settings are the same. Annoying Angry Angry

This is always a problem.

Things to check:
  • Make sure firewall is turned off and try again.
  • Check permissions from drivers and folders on both machines. Make sure your sharing Drivers and Folders
  • Make sure password protected sharing is turned off
  • Make sure the person has right permission to access drive and folders

Make sure firewall is turned off and try again. Done
Check permissions from drivers and folders on both machines. Not Sure how to (Sharing Drivers)
Make sure your sharing Drivers and Folders Not Sure how to (Sharing Drivers)  folders are shared
Make sure password protected sharing is turned off Done
Make sure the person has right permission to access drive and folders Done

There has been no changes to either machine up to the update to Ver 1803 and files/folders were shared on both macines.
I ran SFC and it reported after the scan some files were corrupted but all were repaired, still no change to the network after that.
Also yesterday an update failed to install (KB4100403)
Last failed install attempt on ‎25/‎05/‎2018 - 0x80070011

The attached file shows the error code  Fatel error C00000D4  applying  update  operation  1609 of  67256
Do you think this could be a related in some way? I forgot to add to the specs both machines have a Samsung 850 Evo SSD. Thanks again.

I think what happens when you upgrade to windows 10 Ver 1803 things got corrupted

I think the best option is to reinstall windows 10

Fatel error C00000D4 is another issue and if its on the computer your trying to share with then yes it could be a problem.

Do you have backup of data on that machine with Fatel error C00000D4

If you're still having network issues, try Network Reset. It works everytime for me.
