Perhaps it is a intermittent screen issue.

Pics From Original Thread

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your reply...

The photos were taken prior to the motherboard replacement , then after the motherboard was replaced,

I was experiencing infrequent system freezing and restarts, which I can describe, such as 'static lines running across the top of the screen'
the system just locked no response, I could only hold down the power off button to restart..

One time during an installation of Windows 10, the system froze 6 separate times..

Since I removed the 4GB 2400mhz DDR4 Apacer RAM , I have had no problems ..

As the laptop already has 4GB 2133mhz of DDR4 soldered onto the motherboard,

i just wondered if it was a faulty stick of Apacer DDR4 2400mhz RAM, or... this laptop can only support additional RAM of 2133mhz only??

like others pointed out its a faulty stick memory

or

the memory slot on the motherboard is the problem

what I would do is run a crucial memory scan to see what memory is compatible

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/systemscanner

then get a compatible memory stick

if you are still getting the problem then it's the memory slot

Thanks once again..

I run the RAMMon test, but unfortunately it doesnt work with Lenovo motherboards..

However I ran the program in debugmode, and sent the two system info files to Passmark
as they suggested ,they will probably contact me in a few days, with an amended program..

I will post the info on here, when I receive a reply..

Many thanks..

I received a reply from Richard at Passmark..

His reply was 'Unfortunately, Lenovo machines seem to all have issues retrieving the SPD info.'

I ran a test from Mr Memory which gave the following result
on the soldered 4GB  on the mobo..

These are the results ..

and this is the spec from Lenovo.

Mine is i5-2700

Suffice to say,  an upgrade of DDR4 2133 mhz 4GB  should work??

Many thanks..

This post will answer your question about memory upgrade (Upgrade Memory on Lenovo Ideapad 80XL 320-151SK)

User manual for your Lenovo Ideapad 80XL 320-151SK

Also enter your serial number on this Lenovo Parts Lookup and it will tell you what you can upgrade to.

Product specification describes ram specification as:

16GB max / 2133MHz DDR4, dual-channel capable, optional 4GB memory soldered to systemboard,
one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket

You choice of 8GB module DDR4 2133MHz SODIMM 260-pin SO-DIMM would work.
Listed on parts lookup based on machine type 80XL here would also show you OEM recommended RAM and subsitutes for the model.

Hope this helps
