Dell Dimension 8400 Beep Code Issue

Question 
I have a Dell Dimension 8400 with 3.4ghz processor that is hyperthreading capable which brings up my question I ran a couple  bootable diagnostic programs and when the motherboard test was running failed when it got to memory cache and then I ran the other tool and again it failed the motherboard  memory cache does anyone know how to fix this problem?

  1. First off, what are you trying to do with diagnostic programs? 
  2. What programs are you using to run diagnostics? 
  3. Are you having issue with computer or motherboard? if so, whats the issue?

My pc beeps after hitting the desktop and I searched the beep code but I didn't get anywhere so I figured I can run some tests.

I used check it professional and a test that's located on a recent copy of UBCD.

I did a fresh install of Windows Vista  with a clean install disk and I noticed when I'd open my documents folder how the Window would show the frame but where you should see documents I just seen my desktop background.
