Clonezilla problem
#1
I can't get clonezilla to work on my HP HDX18-1001XX.
It has Windows7 Ultimate 32bit (The laptop originally had Vista installed from factory)
Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.8Ghz.

I've tried all cpu versions of the latest stable and alternative iso files, followed the instructions in the video on youtube, and nothing happens after restart, the clonezilla option screen does not appear at boot-up.

Can you please help.

Yours,
Fred.

Are you selecting to boot from CD/DVD or USB HDD in the BIOS?

"Hey Fred, Have you tried Macrium Reflect it works real well and its free. "
I might have to give that a go if I can't get clonezilla to work and want to save my sanity. Didn't get much sleep last night trying to work out in my head what and why is going on. lol.

"Are you selecting to boot from CD/DVD or USB HDD in the BIOS? "
Not to sure. This is how it's set up at the moment:

At boot up I have the option to press esc to view a start-up menu, and get the following options:
F1 System Information
F2 System Diagnostics
F9 Boot Device Options
F10 BIOS Setup
F11 System Recovery

Selecting F9 (Boot Device Options) takes me to a Boot Option Menu with 2 choices:
Notebook Hard Drive
Internal CD/DVD ROM Drive

Selecting F10 (BIOS Setup) takes me to InsydeH20 Setup Utility, and under the System Configuration menu, the Boot Options are:
CD-ROM Boot <Enabled>
Floppy Boot <Disabled>
Internal Network Adapter Boot <Disabled>
> Boot Order

Selecting Boot Order takes me to Boot Order menu, with the following in this order:
Internal CD/DVD ROM Drive
USB Diskette on Key/USB Hard Disk
USB CD/DVD ROM Drive
Notebook Hard Drive
! USB Floppy
! Network Adapter

How does that look?

Have you tried USB version?

How to Install Clonezilla on a USB Flash Drive from Windows

  1. Download the Official Clonezilla Live Zip file for USB
  2. Extract the contents of the Clonezilla Live Zip to your USB Flash Drive
  3. From the USB Flash Drive, navigate to utils\win32 and run makeboot.bat
  4. Restart your computer setting your BIOS or Boot menu to Boot from USB and then boot from your Clonezilla USB

Clonezilla is based on a Linux distro. I have seen where certain types of hardware just simply will not play well with Clonezilla.

Problem solved.

I have got rid of clonezilla, and installed Acronis True Image. A lot less hassle to set-up and use, and it works!

Thanks for trying to help chaps.

Acronis True Image is a great bit of kit.
