MiniTool Box Partition Recovery Wizzard
#1
I believe I will need to use the Minitool Box Partition Recovery Wizzard from the Hirens DVD. My scenario is: A customer's microsoft account password either was changed via a microsoft technician logging into the customer's computer to help him resolve another issue, or infected by a virus. After signing off, then signing back on the password would not be accepted, thus preventing from signing onto the computer. Many scenarios (actually 3) of resetting the password on his microsoft account via another machine, the password changed on his microsoft account each time, but would not work on his computer. I believe one needs to logged onto the affected computer to have this change work - just my assumption as it did not work the other way. Next step was to go to computer's Set Up Utility. Well, the computer is a Lenovo IdeaCenter K450 - Lenovo has the BIOS password with an Administrative lock. I tried taking the CMOS battery out for 30 minutes - no luck; then tried with total power off changing the jumpers from pins 1 & 2 to pins 2 & 3 - still no luck. Thus cannot get to change boot from secure to legacy.
Next, in preparation for unloading the customer's files from his hard drive I hooked up Cables-to-Go to his HHD. I could not get the hard drive recognized - thus went to disk management and inadvertinately re-initialized the drive as GPT. Now computer will not boot. Thus two problems. Both I believe can be resolved by booting into Hirens.

I will wait until the customer comes back from vacation, then go with him to the store where he purchased the computer and try to have them, in conjunction with Lenovo to give us the password so I can boot to the Hiren's DVD. If I cannot get the administrative password - I have no idea what to do next.

I SAW BRITEC'S VIDEO on the use of the MiniTool Box Partition Recovery Wizzard. In the video Britec indicated this will help recover the partitions if the drive was inadvertinitely formated, etc. As I re-initialized, I know the data is still there, just can't be recognized.

MY ACTUAL QUESION I NEED HELP ON IS - will MiniTool Box Partition Recovery Wizzard recover the partitions so I can boot to the computer once the Password issue is resolved with Lenovo? Also, side issue: I believe the HHD is a GPT, not an MBR. Without being able to get into the computer to boot, I can only guess. Several googles indicate to me that Windows 8.1 systems are now GPT. I also have a HP Laptop with Win 8.1 as a test machine, and the HHD is a GPT.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I had this password issue on another post under Software - had some really good help, but couldn't get resolved. Opening in Windows 8 Forum as I beleive the resolution is Windows 8, not software as I had originally thought.

If you wiped partition table, Minitool can sometimes recover that partition.
