Hirens and UEFI
#1
I have been trying to get a HIRENS and a FalconFour USB boot disk created. I can get them to boot on older systems with no trouble and they boot into the proper desktop for each system. However when I try to get them to work on newer systems that have the UEFI BIOS and load into the mini XP environment I only get partial success they seem to load the mini XP but with none of the tools. I have tried differing boot disk combinations such as easy2boot, Rufus, YUMI, Xboot. As these tools are quite valuable I was wondering if anyone had any feedback and were successful in getting them to boot into newer systems. My own system that I am trying to boot into is a Samsung series 9 running Windows 8.1 with an SSD drive. I am wondering if anyone else has been able to get these to work consistently? And if so what they did to do so? I would be very grateful for any help.
First picture is how it should look
Second is directly from the laptop after booting with HIRENS and the disk made with Rufus

Cheers from Canada!

Hello Brian, sorry I should have mentioned in the first post that I do have secure boot disabled. And that I have changed the BIOS type to CSM, the Samsung also gives the option to CSM or UEFI and both yield the same problem. It loads the boot portion of the usb stick, however when I choose MiniXP I do not get the full HIRENS as it does not seem to find the USB drive itself in the windows explorer once Mini XP is loaded I am going to attempt to upload two screenshots that might help explain this better.

I tried to upload two screenshots to help explain better, Is photo uploading disabled? It shows them being uploaded however they do not appear in my post??

Have you tried to create UEFI bootable USB with Hiren's, that should work.

I am sorry Brian, I am not sure what you mean? Is there a specific method to create the UEFI Bootable with Hirens? I do not recall seeing that in the documentation.
Am I missing something here? I am just getting to the pc again now to try comptons suggestion of zeroing the drive. Perhaps I could combine the two methods?

OK, try and Enable Legacy Boot Mode in BIOS
