Best System Rescue Disks for Windows
#1
As the title reads I'm curious to know which rescue recovery disk is considered the best.
I created the Hirens recovery disk only to learn that it is not compatible with Windows 8.1.

I have already created multiple different recovery disks after learning how to do this from this excellent forum.

I'm interested in the possibility of working on computers as a past time and would truly appreciate whatever feedback provided.
Thanks!

There probably isn't a single best as each user will have their own preference based on their own level of understanding.

Personally I like TRK :https://trinityhome.org/Home/index.php?content=TRINITY_RESCUE_KIT____CPR_FOR_YOUR_COMPUTER&front_id=12&lang=en&locale=en

*edit looks like Brian beat me to it lol

Hi Brian,
Over the last few years I've always came to your youtube postings due to the fact that you always are so thorough in your presentations.
And as usual you've provided me with more than expected!

I need to know how one goes about learning to navigate the rescue disks.
I would greatly appreciate it if you had a link or two for me to study?

Thanks again for your promptness and efficiency!

I'm in the Pacific Northwest of the US and am signing off for today.

Philip.

Phillip I would say the best way to learn how to navigate these rescue programs is to load them up yourself and have a play with what they offer. The options and tools in each program are fairly straight forward. These programs also get updated on a regular basis so changes are made fairly often.

You can also use qemu emulator  or virtualbox to test Live CD ISO files.

Tim and Brian:
Thanks so much for your prompt replies.
Tim, I have attempted to use the listed rescue cd's on my main computer laptop with what you might categorize as being marginal results.
Basic result has been that in the last week I've been rewarded by having to restore my OS now twice due to my lack of understanding of the actual cd commands.
I believe this is the only way for me to learn is to use the programs. I think that the best advice for me, is to use Brian's advice and install the Virtual machine and try using the programs accordingly. I've never used a VM so this again will be a tremendous learning for me! I will keep both of you updated on my progress.

Hi Brian,
I wanted to share with you news about watching one of your informative video tutorials.
In an earlier post you suggested to me to create a virtual machine for my System. I quickly went to youtube and searched your tutorials on how one goes about doing this.

In the video you provided two options for one to download such that one could create a VM AND you indicated that the VM you used had a different name.

So without thinking (my wife tells me I shouldn't think as I'm not good at it :=) ) I went straight to Google and found a website offering to allow me to download the program. I clicked on the download to create the program and all of Heaven and earth attacked my system.

After running a plethora of rescue programs I'm now back (in my opinion) to where I was prior to the attack.

What I found fascinating about all of this was, that THIS is what I was feeling unsure about - if in fact I could take a infected system from its state and to bring it back to a healthy system!

The take away for me from all of this is that I should pay closer attention to the website links you provide rather than going to Google and clicking on the first website that allows for a download.

Thought you might enjoy hearing of my success!
