This is for windows 7 as i have personally not tested on any other OS;
ALLWAYS BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES!
Change Disk Cleanup to Delete Files less than 7 Days old!
When using the Disk Clean Up Utility in Windows 7 you will find that it does not delete ALL temperary files, and this is because it set by default to keep files that are less than 7 days old.
However, if you dont use 3rd party registry cleaner's like myself to clean up files and use the built in Disk Clean Up you will most probably find it a little bit annoying, so the next stage i will show you how to change this so it will delete files right up to 2 days old;
Firstly Open up regedit.exe through the Start Menu search or the run box, and then browse down to the following key;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches\Temporary Files
Now you will see the LastAccess value on the right hand side, which contains a value that specifies the number of days, which you can change to whatever you’d like.
Please keep it simple by only changing the value to no less than 2 as applications need temporary files if they are running.
Hope you found this useful!
