Please follow these instructions in order, and thoroughly,
to allow our Team to assist you more quickly
Please note:
It is common for a computer to appear free from malware even when the malware has not been completely removed. Although your computer appears to be clean after following the Prework, to avoid further problems, or even re-infection, please post the requested logs in order to have a Security Analyst verify that all traces are removed. Thank you for your cooperation.
Also note:
Each set of instructions is specifically tailored to the user that has posted with the issues. Following the instructions posted to another user when you yourself are infected is inadvisable, and could potentially result in your computer being rendered unbootable. If you think you are infected please do not hesitate to post.
TO ALL FORUM POSTERS
In your first post to the Forum, please provide as much information about your problem as possible.
This is the information required to assist you, tell us about your:
1. Make & Model of PC/Laptop.
2. Operating System plus Service Packs/Updates installed.
3. Full System Specifications.
4. Recent Software installs/updates.
5. System Upgrade, Memory, Hard Drives etc.
For Windows users, including detailed system specs is especially critical as the possible hardware combinations for a given user are near-infinite. While there are many ways to obtain detailed system specs, one of the simplest and most complete methods is via a freely-distributed application known as
PC Wizard.
Please describe your problem as clearly as you can.Tell us about any or all of the following:
1. The exact error message
2. How long has the problem existed.
3. System changes prior to the problem occuring and when your system last ran OK.
4. Have you tried to fix it yourself? What did you do? What happened as a result?
Giving this information in your first post saves asking follow-up questions simply to find out.
Post your question on the correct board - Please don't ask a question about a
Virus on the Hardware board
for example.
Frame your Topic Title so that it is meaningful -
'<windows root>system32 missing or corrupt'
is much more relevant to your problem than
'Help, my computer won't start!!
Asking the right question:
'My PC is bust, need it fixing yesterday'
type of question is not a good question, but
'My PC starts up but then hangs at the progress bar.Can anyone help me to fix it?'
is much better.
Following the points above assists in diagnosing and resolving your problem and therefore provides you with a quicker reponse.
Finally, please do not type in CAPITALS, In the Computer world it is the same as Shouting.
Thanks for your cooperation.
Cheers, HTH,
Mr Ticker
