yes copy thye windows folder and system32 and put them on a pen drive once on the pen drive from the other computer put it in the bad computer and copy and paste the folders accross using explorer.exe on the disk
once you have this done reboot and you should load in any problems give me a shout
second option would to use the recovery cd it came with or told you to make bacuse you have a recovery partion on this
what made it crash in the first place any how
if not install windows 7 pro on the failed computer and then register it using the key on that computer
and explain how it all crashed and get microsoft to activate it for you they are very good and very helpful let us know how you get on
was there any files you needed off the computer

alright i'm not too sure whether i should start up a new thread or not but here's my situation: I reinstalled windows 7 (the re-installation alone strangely took 7 hours with the expanding windows files taking up the majority of that time), but now it won't start up at all. It just stays within the windows loading splash screen. I did another system startup recover but this time instead of giving me a "NoOSIntsalled" error message it gives me a "StarupFailure" error message. I'm open to any suggestions. THanks

When I installed Windows 7 with an SATA hard drive and when I received an error saying 0×0000007b
(The re-installation alone strangely took 7 hours or more with the expanding windows files taking up the majority of that time Sometimes you get stuck on expanding windows files)
Try follow below:
1) Reboot and hit F2 to Enter Bios screen 2) Go to the SATA Operation section 3) Change to Combination SATA Mode to IDE Mode 4) Reboot and re-attempt windows install
Change back to SATA when Installed

I take it that option failed to commence try what brian suggested first and if that fails attempt reinstallation with OEM copy and follow the instuctions did you ever have a recovery disk for it becuase you had a recovry partion sitting there all it needs is the recovery disk to start the process like i said if all fails use a oem copy to do a fresh install
Hope this sorts you out sorry you are having this problem there a servral avenues to take when fixing a computer so sorry if it seems long
Let us know if this helps and sorts out you problem

So I've gotten into my bios and there apparently isn't an option to change the SATA Combination to IDE mode. It doesn't even give me any options close to the suggested method. It just allows me to change the time/date, boot order, and run diagnostics.
Is there any other way to change it to IDE mdoe? or am I looking in the wrong place?

Motherboard support with SATA will have several Mode for SATA hard disk. One mode is AHCI, one is IDE or Compatibility or ATA, and there maybe another RAID if it support RAID. If you select AHCI, the SATA hard disk will work at AHCI mode, if you select IDE (or Compatibility or ATA), the SATA hard disk will work at IDE mode. See the different modes in different BIOSs:

So I've reinstalled windows and it "works"
The problem I'm having now is that it takes a ridiculous amount of time to start up and actually get into windows. It'll hang on a black screen similar to an issue posted in a recent thread but I wait and windows does eventually boot up after 20 min or so. When I'm actually in windows EVERYTHING runs really slow. For example, I'll click the windows button and takes time for it to load and pop up. Don't even get me started on right clicking.
I'm still open to suggestions. Thanks

Have you done a Memory test using a memory tester iso file there is one on the fourm if you do not have one Test the ram i could be faulty and that is why it is so slow and slugish.
Should this not be the problem check out you start up time and then let us know what that is brian did a script on this so copy that and paste it into notepad and save the file as restart test.vbs then tell us the result
this will confirm a lot more hope this is of some help to you
Kind Regards BJseal91

Sorry for the late response as the tests I ran did take quite some time. I did a memory test through the recover CD and didn't seem to find anything wrong. I'm not too sure how to check the ram. Do I do a physical check, where I open up the laptop and take a look at it or is there a program for me to use?
I couldn't find the script script for the "test.vbs" Would it be possible for you to direct me to it or just write it out for me? Thank you very much!

yes that is the one and burn that to a cd with a iso burner and run the test what you are lloking for is it to say pass in each section once then you know it is not the ram at fault the instuctions will help you use the program and you will see what we mean
