hi guys, first time in this forum because i urgently need help with repairing my house's tower before going off to college. anyways...
my computer will boot up to the first screen displaying the installed RAM then goes to a screen that says

"RAID Option ROM Version 3.0.1545.46
(c) 2008 Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. All Rights reserved.
Scanning Drives __"

and then it just stays there forever. and ever...

The system Specs are as followed:

AMD Phenom 9650 Quad core Processor 2.3ghz
8.00 DDR2 RAM (in 4 sticks)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 750 Gbytes
Windows 7 Ult.

So from what i can see, the computer freezes between the first screen that pops up and before windows starts loading. i've tried flashing the bios to see if it'll let me get into setup. Also, if i try pressing f10 (which is my default setup button to get into the bios), i still can't get into the bios menus because it gets stuck on the whole "scanning drives" thing. next, i tried to see if i had faulty RAM sticks by trying every combination of RAM sticks possible (taking one or a few out then seeing if the computer will get past the "scanning drives" screen), but that didn't produce any viable results. my final try would be to switch out the hard drive but i don't have any spare hard drives i can use (that use the SATA connections anyways). i'm planning on buying another hard drive regardless of i can get it fixed or not, but i still would like to know if there is anything i can do to fix the problem beforehand.
Any help will be much appreciated Smiley

also, i should add that i've had many problems with this computer in the past. i've had a few blue screens before and some problems with programs, but it was never anything that re-installing windows or flashing the bios didn't fix.

Hi  LAKAIORION

Welcome to the forum

sorry for the delay.

Go into your BIOS settings and turn off Raid.

i can't get that far. the bios screen comes AFTER the screen that says "scanning drives." therefore, even if i press the button to get into setup, i can't get past that RAID screen...

anymore ideas guys? :/

You must be able to get to BIOS and if your not using RAID, set the controller mode to AHCI or IDE instead.
If you cant get into BIOS something is wrong.

If you can't get into BIOS, shut down computer, open side panel of case and remove power lead and 24pin connector on motherboard. Then remove CMOS battery for 30sec or 1min and then try.

No pull power lead out of the back of the case and remove 24pin like below.

So you can't access the BIOS? Is your Keyboard USB? if so try a PS-2 keyboard?
Still no joy? well its time to start checking for hardware issue's. If you don't know how to diagnose hardware then your need a tech to do it for you.

I could say when I think the issue is, but its best to run test to be 100% sure.
